Lit, Love, Read, Let's Read Georgia's statewide reading campaign, begins in just four days! Our Let's Read Georgia coaches will be visiting classrooms throughout our RESA area to read-aloud and share instructional strategies for building knowledge, vocabulary, and comprehension. As we prepare for this fun event, we will share a favorite book each day until our Lit, Love, Read Kick-off on World Read-Aloud Day, February 4th. Our first book is the classic Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
One evening Max dons his wolf suit and makes mischief, so his mother sends him to his room. His imagination fills the room with trees and an ocean, and he sails away to the place where the wild things are. Max tames the wild things and crowns himself king. Let the wild rumpus begin!
Share this book with a child who loves a story with action and a reassuring ending that home is the very best place of all!

Our WGRESA Let's Read GA Literacy Leads met for a wonderful day of learning last week! The theme was "Building a Literacy Culture that Lasts." Our LRG Literacy Coaches presented strategies for building reading comprehension, increasing student engagement, and planning protocols for effective read-alouds. Each Literacy Lead received a copy of the Scholastic Science of Reading book, Know Better, Do Better Comprehension, as well as some tiny building "tools" to serve as a reminder of how teachers, coaches, and administrators can work together to build a literacy culture where students thrive. We appreciate the leadership and commitment from each of our Literacy Leads!

What a TREAT to spend yesterday learning from Maria Walther! Participants learned how rich read-alouds fit into Georgia's ELA Instructional Framework and explored great ideas for using picture books to build students' vocabulary and background knowledge. Participants also left with a bag full of books to read and share! Did you miss yesterday's session? You have another chance to experience Ramped-Up Read Alouds presented by the author.
